ditch the Krell FPB 400cx for my 'new' Sophia 2's?

I know, this sounds like a post from 2008 - but it's not! I've had my trusty Krell FPB 400cx for 15 years - I needed the high current for Aerial 10T's. It was the last generation mega amp from Krell before Dan. D. left. To me it is very smooth (not etched!), and of course the bass control is amazing. I just bought Wilson Sophia 2's (Wow! - a dream come true), and have also newly added an ARC CD8 and an ARC Ref 5se upstream. It sounds fantastic. I'm wondering whether replacing the amp would make it even better (you know how that goes). ~$6K budget for used. I'd like SS with more life/better mid's, and great bass and punch. Small room, but I do like to turn it up, so plenty of power. I've heard Pass Labs might fit the bill. Maybe a X250.5, X350.5, or X250.8? Any thoughts folks? I want to make sure an X250 will have enough power. Thanks - everyone's input is always so helpful!

Sorry I can’t answer about the Krell with the Sophia 2’a but I can say, having had them driven by McIntosh Mc501’s that to my ear, they like the high powered solid state amps. I haven’t heard pass only good things so it seems like you are on the right path. Good luck!
you’ve got a great amp from krell’s golden days. i might have it worked over by krell but i can’t imagine selling it. just an opinion
