Not concerts, but I stumbled upon a series of YouTube videos bassist Leland Sklar is doing from his home in Pasadena. Sklar is an INCREDIBLE bass player, heard on a lot of recordings made in Los Angeles from the late-60's forward. You've probably seem him: a long white beard and hair, he looks like R. Crumb's Mr. Natural. One video is of him showing and talking about his basses and amps, another of him playing along with a recording he is on (made with some of the guys from Toto, plus McCartney's great drummer Art Laboriel, Jr.). Watch it to see a master at work! |
