What About Kuzma?

Whilst turntables from Technics, Rega, VPI, Thorens, Pro-Ject, Clearaududio etc all get reasonable publicity other perhaps no less deserving designs hardly seem to get a look in.

A good case in point might be the Kuzma Stabi S. Here's a skeletal design which seems to predate the similar looking Rega 8 and 10 models by over a decade.

I've never heard one but it sure looks interesting, especially as it seems to have gone in the direction which the higher end Rega models later followed.

Agree @cd318, SME as well. Excellent designs and quality of construction. One Kuzma owner is Audiogoner whart, located in Austin, Texas, who is very happy with his table and arm.
I own a Stabi S and really enjoy it.  Yes, it flies under the radar because there are very few US dealers (made in Slovenia).  High value for money, mass-loaded design and runs flawlessly.  I'm considering upgrading mine to the 4Point arm and then will likely be set for quite a long time.

Maybe Kuzma need to have a look at the Pro-Ject business model. It can be done. I remember reading about Kuzma turntables back in the 80s. Great reviews but they always seem to be outsiders.

For sure it's a competitive market out there and just having a good product is not nearly enough. Maybe only 20% of it.

But ultimately you will need to expand. I can recall the days back when Roy Gandy used to state that he wasn't interested in ever making Rega a big company!

What we really need, what would benefit both manufacturers and consumers would be an increase in size of the specialist audio market.

It will be interesting to see whether sport will recover from Covid or whether people will start to look elsewhere for their entertainment.
