Several thoughts for you:
- The Venere series doesn’t sound like SF’s more traditional lines, so if you like the sound of the 1.5s you may not be as fond of the Olympicas. Frankly, if rock/metal is your main genre, SF is not the way I’d go. I had the Venere 2.5s in my system on extended demo and don’t recommend them — the cabinet is too lightweight and contributes to a pronounced upper-bass bump that is all but impossible to tame. The woofers also hit their bump stops relatively easily, which doesn’t work well for heavier-type music.
- For a speaker that can belt out rock/metal yet also has the refinement to shine with other genres I’d highly recommend ATC speakers. They do require some power to open up fully, but your H200 should be fine with that. There’s a very nice pair of SCM19 v2s for sale on US Audio Mart for $3k (retail $4k) and I suggest you hop on them ASAP. They’ll literally blow you away with your music. ATC has a powerful and dynamic, unvarnished midrange that is truly special with high-powered music but sounds exceptional with everything. They’ll have a good amount of punch on their own, but if you want more you can always add a sub or two later and be in full-range sonic heaven.
- If you don’t want to buy used, the new LSA-10 Statements are on sale here now by the manufacturer for $2500 that includes speaker cables (that you could turn around and sell if not needed), free shipping, and, most importantly, a 30-day, in-home trial period. Very nice all-around speakers for the money that will provide lots of lower-end punch on par with smaller floorstanders. The LSA-20 Signature floorstanders may also be around $3k if they’re currently on sale too, but you’d have to check on that.
