Given their love for 4 legged canines something tells me their ads don't include "pet free" . Or is it some universal audiophile disdain for the loyal barkers? To me to be is a good book, good dog, good drink, good song, good wife, good smoke....
There is another audio forum that has a thread dedicated to pictures of cats on their audio gear. Seriously, cats on audio gear. I would think a lb of pet dander and fur in your amp might be a problem.
With 6 cats yes it can be a problem but what am I supposed to do, shoot them all? Just have to watch them closely although I did have to get an old BAT power amp channel section rebuilt when one of my cats decided it was a great place to be sick on.... seriously! Partly my fault as it was sitting out in the open on an amp stand. Now ALL components in the rack where they really could not get to anything, just leaves the turntables and speakers as suspects..... lol.
