TVs' sharpness control and modern speaker design

Remember when in the big box stores how they would always turn the sharpness control all the way up to 11, in order to impress the punters?  Perhaps they still do.

Unfortunately, only a small majority of speakers have a similar adjustment for the level of the treble, so designers are faced with the conundrum of how to impress the potential buyer auditioning a product over a really quite short period of time.  Perhaps this explains the many tipped up models you find out there these days.

They just tell you wait until you get the speakers home ,then the true presence will appear.
the bygone tone control adjustments might be a more apt comparison.
these days dealers impress with big bass at high volume with carefully selected demo music.
