Musing - audiophiles that new just enough to be dangerous

I remember when some friends told me they bought some cool speakers rated at a "mind blowing" 100 watts. But they were smart enough to buy a receiver (perhaps Realistic) rated at 85 watts so they could turn it all the way up and not damage the speakers.
Any stories?

If your asking, "Did I ever burn or blow anything up" NO.  But I did do a cable drop that cost a fortune. About 12K if you replaced the equipment or 3K to fix it.. I was sick, and still am over that screw up.  Never again that's for sure.

Oldhvymec,
It's really not advisable to pick your components up by their interconnects. Just trying to help... (You're welcome)
We used to have one here new just enough to be dangerous. But that's old gnus.
