Tea For The Tillerman2

A Surprise in my Weekly Discover Trip on Qobuz. Brings back so many memories. Comparing track by track now the Tillerman2 (16/44) and Original (24/96). Mixed Bag so far to my ears. Hard Headed Woman improves IMHO with stronger presence while Wild World sounds like a rag time cover and just does not ring my bell. So different but cool to listen to the change from a 22yo after 50 years. Father and Son different but still the same. Very strange time trip going on in my head right now.
Proves the point, old guys can still kill it. Fact.

An artist revisiting a past work can be interesting and/or great, or the opposite. Anyone talented enough to create an original like TFTT deserves at least a listen to the new presentation. Cat may now be able to reach deeper into the album's songs, having lived more life since recording the original than he had at the time of it's making. Dare I ask: are there some who won't listen to him because of his Muslim faith?
Certainly not unless he starts espousing radical Evangelical crap...

btw Van is on my no fly list he it turns out is an antimasker, pissed I suspect cause he makes his € touring....
I saw Cat's very short tour a few years back in NYC. The staging, the singing, the musicianship---the songs.
It was just spectacular and so heartfelt. He still has it but with the dimension of infused wisdom of age in every note. You could feel it.
It was a very uplifting and beautiful surprise.
This album was recorded during the anniversary of my birth in 1970.  I love the original, and I'm loving the re-recording fifty years later.  I didn't come upon the album until the late eighties, which could have something to do with the fact that the new version was something I was looking forward to since announced.
