Im sure everybody on this thread has probably read my story about receiving a pair of Def 4s, Id like to make a few comments about them. I dont have the reviewing or the writing skills as everyone here and I think everything Im experiencing has been stated. So here are a few general statements. From the first few minutes of listening it is very apparent that this is a totally different speaker than the MK3. From top to bottom everything is better and thats not putting the 3s down, I enjoyed my brief time with them.
Where I experienced some shrillness from the tweeter on certain cuts is now gone. The bass is much tighter and powerful and the overall sound really fills the room (22x18) Off axis listening is great. Cds that I havent played in years are now sounding pretty darn good. Im using the Melody I2a3 and Im sure the other amps and associated gear talked about here would take things to another level but I feel the 2a3 does them justice at least to the point that Im really enjoying the music and not stressing about upgrading something and thats really what its all about.
If anyone is contemplating upgrading from the 2s or lower and can afford it, you wont be disappointed. By the way I got the honey walnut finish.
