I don’t have the “original” to compare it to. Although this recording is sort of unique in that aspect. It was recorded for radio broadcast in France in, I think, 1979, then issued on a somewhat fancy label in 1984. Then ORG made the one I have in 2014 or so. I’ve posted before about the exceptionally solid imaging this record produces through my system. Which is excellent and exceptional as compared to almost any record. So, alas no I can’t offer a direct comparison but I assume this is “the best” for this title.
I know what you’re getting at. I appreciate exceptional records (op, or reissue, or whatever they be). I can probably count on one hand though the records for which I have multiple copies. Although I enjoy and often covet the purportedly good ones I’m not all that committed I guess. Just love the music. Mostly.
