@grey9hound Agree, and I don’t doubt it sounds better on vinyl, my own belief is that almost everything does if it’s pressed from a legitimate vinyl master, even if digitally recorded. I don’t understand it completely but it is my experience.
I heard the great deep bass and a lot of the production effects you write about and the recording is very cool. Unique really. Have to say though that I’ve never heard a record (it was on most of it not just one song) where the LR channel balance oscillated back and forth as fast as reverb. The success of that (unusual) effect might be system dependent. Cool record. Great musicians. And I agree, really interesting, unique, and good recording.
Just out of curiosity, do you know the Toureg stuff by +10:1 Tinariwen? If not you might like it. I’ve really been digging it lately. Maybe start with: Elwan.
