how do i turn off auto-mute on my stereo? JVC rx-6000v. i've tried all the basic/obvious stuff.

When i do that, my radio station turns to static. Any other suggestions? Do you have an antenna on the receiver? Many receivers and separate tuners will go into mute if the signal is too low.
