@noromance

Brian, I must insist that you try the same headshell. ;-)
The wooden one will be distinctly different.

LOL. It may…..may…..sound different, but really, the Zephyr and MIMC Star both have Peter’s ‘DEMS’ technology, which is suppose to take the damped energy (internal vibrational forces) and propagate it within the cart body itself (a technology developed in the Sussuro cart) before it reaches the arm. As I understand, one of the benefits of a wood headshell is to help remove resonance within the cart before it reached the arm. I’m no expert, but it seems the DEMS technology is doing the same within the cart itself, so that benefit should not be a large factor of the headshell material, or, should at least be minimal.

With this new cart, I needed a new headshell. I want the ‘best’ (not most expensive) for the MIMC, so, why not use Soundsmith’s very own wood headshell? It’s the only headshell Peter sells as his own design, thus he must feel it is the best headshell for his cartridges if one is necessary. Good enough for me, and the new MIMC.

I’m sure Peter would have most highly recommended one of his phono pre’s (which I did consider) vs my Hagerman too. Oh well Peter, win some, lose some. 😁
