Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1
Beethoven Sinfonie NR.3 Es-Dur OP.55 Eroica.
Felix Weingärtner
Wiener Philharmoniker
German pressing on EMI/Dacapo.

Beethoven Symphony No. 3 in E Flat Major, Op 55 Eroica
Bruno Walter
Columbia Symphony Orchestra
Columbia Masterworks 6-Eye 1959 Mono pressing.

Far superior SQ over my Dacapo pressing.
Arrived today….my Soundsmith MIMC Star.

Mounted earlier. I gotta say, I think Soundsmith carts are some of the easiest to align. Set azimuth, VTA, tracking, and took it for a quick spin before getting back to work. Initially I think I have settled on 1K loading (Peter recommends min 470-1K). Tried 470, but didn’t have the high end sparkle as 1K. 64db is what Peter recommends for gain (actually 63). I tried 60, but think 64 provides more ‘easy heft’ across the all the ranges.

It’ll take about 100 hours to fully burnish.

Very nice initial reaction, and the Hagerman has no issue handling this cart (.4mV output). Will be giving it a closer listen this evening after dinner with some LP’s I’m very familiar.
