VTA adjustment on Technics 1200G

I have the Technics 1200G with Lyra Etna SL cartridge, Don Sachs pre, Pass X350.5 amp driving Soundlab M545. First of all, it sounds great. I have the VTA at the lowest setting and it sounds tiniest bright. Normally, I would lower the VTA in such a case, but it is always at its lowest point. Any suggestions?

In this situation:

1) Thicker platter mat
2) or a spacer between headshell and cartridge.

Chakster, You used to have the Microseiki copper mat. That is thicker and better than the 1200g rubber mat?

You do not use VTA for a tone control.
The optimum VTA is when you have maximum soundstage and maximum detail.
Is your arm level ?
Can you go a little below level.

If not, you could use a cartridge spacer, this would achieve the same result as lowering the arm at the back.
