Jazz for aficionados

Jazz for aficionados

I'm going to review records in my collection, and you'll be able to decide if they're worthy of your collection. These records are what I consider "must haves" for any jazz aficionado, and would be found in their collections. I wont review any record that's not on CD, nor will I review any record if the CD is markedly inferior. Fortunately, I only found 1 case where the CD was markedly inferior to the record.

Our first album is "Moanin" by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers. We have Lee Morgan , trumpet; Benney Golson, tenor sax; Bobby Timmons, piano; Jymie merrit, bass; Art Blakey, drums.

The title tune "Moanin" is by Bobby Timmons, it conveys the emotion of the title like no other tune I've ever heard, even better than any words could ever convey. This music pictures a person whose down to his last nickel, and all he can do is "moan".

"Along Came Betty" is a tune by Benny Golson, it reminds me of a Betty I once knew. She was gorgeous with a jazzy personality, and she moved smooth and easy, just like this tune. Somebody find me a time machine! Maybe you knew a Betty.

While the rest of the music is just fine, those are my favorite tunes. Why don't you share your, "must have" jazz albums with us.

Enjoy the music.

Trying to stay away from politics, just a simple thought,,,if all that money was spent otherwise, I guess we would see less 'issues' than likes of the one that you have posted in that video on the previous page...

I used to think like that, I thought, boy, what they could have done with all that money, then, as I grew older and understood more, I learned that when the Policies, the programs, the weapon systems or the actions /  'excursions' disappear, so does the money that funds them.

So if you want to help with the situation discussed in my clip, you would have to go to the congress and ask for $2.4 trillion to stop the migration of Africans / Muslims  into Europe.  ahahahahahahahahahahaha.  Sorry.  A spontaneous outburst.

Cheers
Sorry, O-10; sorry that my explanation did not serve to clarify things for you. As always, and for the sake of good (better?) will in the thread, I would encourage you to consider how heavy handed and insulting some of your comments come across. Particularly ironic in this case since you, yourself, did not know that it was Morgan playing.

Peace.

Interesting recordings that may clarify best of all.  Featuring both Morgan and Hubbard, I think the only time they recorded together:

Saw that one coming! 😊

Mickey: Your nose is broken.
Rocky Balboa: How does it look?
Mickey: Ah, it’s an improvement.

"Particularly ironic in this case since you, yourself, did not know that it was Morgan playing."

What are you talking about? Are you trying to rewrite history? You just make any old off the wall statement, and hope it will stick as fact. Talk about taking desperate measures; that takes the cake.
