The George Shearing Trio-Breakin’ Out Side 2 SQ Audiophile

@dayglow , nice record.  Ray Brown on bass, right?   I don't think it has one of Shearing's collectible record jackets though.   I hope a-gon gets the browser fixed so I can post pics of some of my excellent George Shearing covers.

New, poorly made LP’s are becoming more of an issue IMO. About half of my purchases this past year have static noise somewhere. Very aggravating and has me rethinking future purchases, which are mostly online and require return shipping to exchange. It’s hard to enjoy the new purchase when you almost expect to have an issue.

@bslon I’m actually amazed at how quiet most of my new orders turn out to be. There have been a couple bad ones though. Like when every tap of a tambourine is a squak of distortion. But overall I guess I have more optimistic expectations. Records continually amaze me. One thing I think helps is my Shibata stylus. It’s worse than an elyptical on big scratches or smudges, but I don’t get much clicking and popping from clean looking vinyl.

Hey James.

Yep that was me who snagged the AP lp.

...........

Hey Bill,

I’ve had to exchange several this year. I don’t

think I’ll ever abandon the format though. Amazon

makes exchanges so easy, I just accept it as part

of being into analog.

@spiritofradio I agree that overall they are quiet, it's the occasional static noise I hear, like a quiet 1 second frying pan 'sizzle'. Only on new stuff, not on all of it. My cartridge has a Namiki microridge line contact stylus with under 300 logged hours. I clean every new record before play, and multiple treatments don't help. I'm wondering if it's the same noise @big_greg hears on the HM LP?
