Options

Not wishing to beat an old horse to death, but it looks like I have two options other than going with expensive and somewhat imposing acoustic panels

1. Using an active speaker system or 2. Using a passive speaker with an amplifier utilizing room correction?

If you were faced with these 2 choices, which way would you go, and what manufacturers do you hold in high regard, for either product?
