Chinese Cables that sound good

Please share your chinese cable purchases that sounded good, and even horror stories of cables that didn't work out.

People get lured into aliexpress and other sites when the see expensive looking cables that appear very similar to well-known audiophile high-priced units, but at a fraction of the cost.

THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT IF ITS RIGHT OR WRONG TO COPY OTHERS' DESIGNS.  ITS ABOUT WHICH CABLES SOUND GOOD AND/OR PERFORM WELL.

There are lots of chinese cables to choose from:

- Power cables

- USB cables (separating signal and data)

- Speaker cables

- Interconnects

- HDMI / IIS cables

I've tried a pair of Xansane silver plated copper, braided, speaker cables, to replace generic 12AWG copper that I was using.  The pair cost around $230 CAD.  It appeared to be made well.  However, I didn't notice any difference in the sound of my speakers.  2nd however, I also didn't take notes beforehand or do critical listening...I was just expecting to be blown away somehow but I wasn't.  I will be DIY'ing my future cables (power, interconnects, USB, and maybe speaker) using the DIY Helix cable information found on this site (link to thread).

But for now, I want to see what worked for other people.

I ordered this digital cable from aliexpress a few weeks ago because I was intrigued by the description and the price was fair. I received it today, and it is superior sonically to the other 4 digital cables that I own, which aren't worldbeaters, but good and not garbage. My favorite up until now has been the Cerious Technologies graphene, but this beats it pretty much on all points. The most impressive difference that I noted was strummed guitar that can often sound "smeared" with some cables, as if when things start getting faster, it loses focus. Not so with this cable. Impact is excellent, bass is wonderful and high frequencies are extended without being dominant or grating. I think this is a great value, and it's not a copy of anyone else's cable.

@roxy54 , if possible, can you let us know the length, and then use a multimeter and test the capacitance, then resistance of a single length, and then report back?

fai_v,

I would be happy to do that for you, but I don't own, and have never used a multimeter.

pesky_wabbit,

I noticed that it was made in Taiwan too, and I thought that was interesting.

Taiwan have been catering for the mid to upper range market for a while now. Their (unfortunately now unavailable) James transformers were excellent VFM for the constructor. Let‘s hope the ROC lets them continue on their trajectory unimpeded..
