DAC / USB outputs in MONO? HELP

Hello,

At 73 I'm attempting to upgrade my office system and I can NOT seem to get a stereo signal out of my DAC? I have used various on line samples that are "in phase" and have audio. When I attempt an "out of phase" signal I get nothing from either channel? I have also tried "spoken left-right-center" samples and all these samples are the same on both channels?

System configuration:

Desktop PC Win10 (Amazon Music) with 20ft USB into a SMSLSu8 DAC, direct into Threshold 400A amplifier driving Magnepan LRS speakers.

Any help folks would be greatly appreciated...

Cheers' Darrell

Check the little toggle switches on the back of the Threshold RCA/AES selectors.

Try inputting a CD player or something else into the DAC, it's probably the computer.

Thanks lordmelton but mine is the first series and doesn't have switches.

Maybe TOSLINK would be better for this 20ft run?

Maybe it’s a Windows setting.

Windows lets you convert stereo sound into a single channel so you can hear everything, even if you’re using just one headphone. Select the Start button, then select Settings > Ease of Access > Audio, and then switch on the toggle under Turn on mono audio.

OK,

* * * * *  I'm embarrassed  -  It had MONO selected * * * * *

Thanks SOOO much yage and everyone else.

Now that I have lost a day and a half,

I can now listen to some music... (OM is smiling now)

Cheers, Darrell
