Magico A5 Burn-In Experiences?

Lugged my Gryphon Diablo 300 into a dealer who had the A5’s and Audiovector R6’s in-house, as I’m looking into a speaker upgrade.

These are both superb speakers. Are either of these for me? Not sure yet. To muddy the waters somewhat, after the audition the dealer told me that the A5’s only had about 250 hours on them. I’ve read multiple forum posts saying the A5’s need 500 hours “before the bass shows up”.

Indeed, I found the A5’s to be missing a lot of bass in comparison with what I am used to (I have B&W 803 D2’s at home). The Audiovector R6’s were more what I was used to in terms of bass. The dealer explained it may also be due to the fact that the A5’s are sealed and have no ports.

Beyond that I found the A5’s to be very detailed, relaxed/natural, and the stereo image was very solidly composed, and moving around didn’t mess things up at all.

The Audiovector R6’s by comparison had more bite and excitement to them. Both speakers had excellent detail and imaging.

For anyone who has Magico A5’s: Is it true that the bass only makes an appearance after 500 hours? At 250 hours, I’m not sure if these speakers are for me. For those that have gone through the burn-in process, did the sound change that much after 250 hours of use? The bass was very noticeably light compared with others.

I don’t want to cross these speakers off my list too soon, if there is a chance they can change that much at the 500 hour mark.
