John Mayall  -  Empty Rooms   Had to play it again, just got it the other day.  Wonderful album

Procol Harum  -  Broken Barricades   Awesome album!  And sounds great.

Procol Harum  -  S/T   Just got this today, Music On Vinyl reissue.  Originally a mono album and remastered still in mono.  Great music, very flat and quiet vinyl.  MOV always does a good job but this SQ is not good.  The original recording quality leaves a lot to be desired.  No real bass to speak of and fairly thin sounding vocals and instruments.  Rather disappointing.  Too bad, I was looking forward to this one.

Hey there Gents. I saw today that Friday Music is taking pre-orders for a new “remastered” reissue of Dave Mason’s solo debut “Alone Together”. I had thought that all the master, etc., tapes of Dave’s work went up in flames. Does anyone know the source of this new issue?  I’m guessing digital files but don’t know for sure. I emailed Friday Music but don’t expect to hear back from them until next Friday.

Hey James, there was a reissue some years ago that had the swirl vinyl and was sourced from the analog tapes.  I understand those sounded great (note; I have an original, early pressing with the swirl vinyl, in NM condition...yeah baby!).  I have no idea about what Friday music will be using as a source.  I hope they reply to you with a good answer.  But, if you can find one of the reissues from some years ago, maybe for sale on Discogs, those are told to be very good.  There was also a pressing from the same reissue in black vinyl which I understand has the same SQ as the swirl vinyl reissue.  Again, try Discogs.

On another note, Dave did a new album of Alone Together just last year, titled Alone Together Again.  It's the same songs, in the same order, in an entirely new recording session.  I bought a copy about 6 months ago, when it first released.  The music is done extremely well, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it for that alone.  The SQ is also really good, in fact, better than the original Alone Together album, by a good margin.  Having both is a treasure in my collection.

I hope this help.
