Trenner & Friedl Sun

Hi all, thinking about buying Trenner & Friedl Suns for a small nearfield set up, mostly analog listening with a Belles Aria Integrated. Has anyone heard these who can comment on them. I know there are lots of alternatives, mostly I am looking for the opinion of folks who have heard or own these speakers.

Funny that you would mention Harbeth P3's, because they were what I ended up choosing. I listen mostly to classical music, and Harbeth is excellent at realistic reproduction of unamplified acoustic instruments and voice.

I listen 4 feet away from speakers on my nearfield desktop system. With the Suns, I wanted to turn the volume up for better sound and listen from farther away. I loved the tiny size and clean design and really wanted it to work, but at close range it was louder than I want for music listening. The P3 does well playing low volume at close range.

I have the P’3’s in another room nearfield and I agree they are amazing with acoustic music and voice. The room I am setting up now requires the smallest form factor I can manage so the Sun’s would be perfect. This room is isolated so I can play them louder, but I really would love to hear opinions from people who have had them for a while. Listening at the dealer is not the same as long term listening and home audition may be difficult. Anyone out there have them who can give some opinions?

I was lucky because the Trenner & Friedl dealer in my area works out of his home and brings gear to the customer's location for audition. As I suggested before, contact the distributor and ask about options for auditioning.

I have and it will take a few months to get my hands on a pair to audition. Kind of impatient so was looking for others who have them. It is interesting to me that I don’t hear much about them nowadays but after the Stereophile review they were discussed often. I did hear them at the dealer and as I stated, with the right amp I was surprised by how good those little boxes sounded. They aren’t anywhere near the “best stand mounted speakers” as the review suggested, but in my limited review of them I was quite impressed.
