Whats on your turntable tonight?

For me its the first or very early LP's of:
Allman Brothers - "Allman Joys" "Idyllwild South"
Santana - "Santana" 200 g reissue
Emerson Lake and Palmer - "Emerson Lake and Palmer"
and,
Beethoven - "Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major" Rudolph Serkin/Ozawa/BSO
slipknot1

@mammothguy54: Yeah, Music On Vinyl is a terrible reissue label. Everyone here should avoid all their LP's. I'm surprised Acoustic Sounds is selling them.

The MoFi A Salty Dog was $35 when released, but as with all MoFi's the price skyrocketed when it became out-of-print. But don't despair: the original UK pressing on EMI/Regal Zonophone also sounds fantastic (I have both), and should be available for less $. The trick will be finding a copy in Near Mint condition.

I too saw Procol Harum in 1971 (at The Fillmore), and though I greatly missed the organ playing of Matthew Fisher, the group was great live.

By the way fans of the original PH line-up (the first three albums): Matthew Fisher's three solo albums are well worth looking for. I love 'em!

Given the big ’bru-ha-ha’ over Mofi right now, Im not sure what or who to believe....except folks here who have much more experience with these repressing/remasters than I.

I’m typically pleased with my original pressings, and really don’t have a lot of options when it comes to classical anyway.....but I have rarely heard the various reissues in comparison. As they say, ’ignorance is bliss’ :D

I don’t have a problem with MOV for albums from late 80s or 90s and on but for early rock, 60s or 70s, I’d look for originals.

Mofi has become the quasi-mainstream Audiophile label. With the increasing number of vinyl collectors whose priority is not SQ Mofi has adjusted with the current buyer

@slaw  - I have "Who's Next" from MoV and I think it's pretty darn good. Don't have an original to compare though. Good originals seemed too expensive at the time I was looking. Checked the reviews on Discogs and the reviews of the MoV were very positive.

Just listened to it a couple of nights ago. Really good...

I also have Elvis Costello - "All This Useless Beauty" on MoV and it is also very good.

I think I have a couple more. I'll be on the lookout for them and I'll give them a spin if/when I find them.
