Thiel Owners

Guys-

I just scored a sweet pair of CS 2.4SE loudspeakers. Anyone else currently or previously owned this model?
Owners of the CS 2.4 or CS 2.7 are free to chime in as well. Thiel are excellent w/ both tubed or solid-state gear!

dimitrig - smells fishy.

The CS1.2 is a moderately sensitive speaker. It should not be unusually loud. Bass shouldn’t be weak. Nor should it muffle voices - spoken voice is a good tell-tale for troubles because we hear it so well..

I suggest looking behind the woofers for obvious damage (melted parts) on the XO; or loose wires at the xo or drivers. A woofer might have a loose coil. Listen to each speaker independently to see if they sound different.

The 1.2 is the 4th generation of the model 1 (4,04a, CS1, CS1.2.) These speakers are worth troubleshooting - and fixing. Check out some reviews online. Rob Gillum at Coherent Source Service can supply help and solutions.
