To follow up, I let it sit, turned off overnight. Then I unplugged it from a power conditioner (where I also have connected a PrimaLune 400 EVO amp and a Lampizator Atlantic DAC). I removed a special power cord that I use on other units as well. Then, I just plugged the Zenith directly into a new, grounded surge protector that I plugged directly into its own wall socket. When I turned it on, it cycled from white to blue then ejected the CD. It is live and fine. What I will do is just stream today and tomorrow; no ripping. Do not want to risk the CD issue again for a bit. Then I'll proceed to rip and see if there was a possible issue in the power from the conditioner that somehow was affecting the Zenith when it was demanding more for ripping. I know it has its own internal power transformer so I'm not worried about it being connected without a conditioner like the amp and DAC. I'll stream for 2 days then take the plunge and rip again. If all goes well, I can only conclude the power conditioner or special power cable was affecting the unit. More later...
