What can beat Wilson XVX for less money?

Dunlavy Sc-4 or SC-5 surely beat :)

There are a lot of speakers that can compete.  Not sure if they will be fundamentally better but will be different.  MBL and Avantgarde have radicaly different designs at the high end that could easily compete.  

In terms of raw engineering, I would be shocked if anyone spends more on speaker development than Wilson Benesch courtesy of British Government subsidies.  I haven’t tested vs Wilson’s at this level, but I would be very optimistic that certainly the Eminence could go toe-to-toe but I would love to hear the Omnium or Resolution up against them.  I think it would be closer than you think.

I heard the Wilson XVX speakers once at an Audio Show and they were absolutely as advertised, as were all the other comparable speakers from other manufacturers.  I loved the Arion Audio open baffle ribbon speakers as much as, or better than, anything else I've ever heard at any price point, and they cost just a fraction of what the Wilsons cost.  That's just one example.  There are others, too.      

It's definitely possible to beat the XVX if you are willing to invest in a dCS Vivaldi stack, Dan D'Agostino Relentless amps, Transparent audio Magnum Opus cables, and professional room treatments to go with those speakers.
