Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update

In case there are any Denafrips DAC owners out there that are not aware of the FPGA Firmware Update, here's the link:

I did the update on my Ares II earlier today and am currently enjoying the results.  It is definitely an improvement without question.

I’m going to sit back and wait a few months till the dust clears. Plays nice music in current form. To many different versions of everyone’s results.

I will probably leave it as is, no upgrade. There would have to be 100% way to go back to stock form to even consider upgrade. Would there be a small percentage of these dac’s that can never go back to stock form?

I shared my desire to revert to the old firmware with Vinshine and here’s what they said:

Our goal is to have the best of both worlds - New firmware with bugs fixed, as well as to preserve the sound quality that DENAFRIPS is known for - ability to reproduce music very much 'analog-like', and improve it further.

We are working with DENAFRIPS on this. We aim to release a new firmware for Pontus II (EP4CE6F) in approximately 7 days to achieve that.

Thank you, Vinshine!!!

Besides the burn in, there are still other issues needed to be considered, such as system synergy and weak link in the system. The new firmware may not be the weakest link in your system. Or, it may just be not suitable to your system. And, if you don’t try you will never know. I would say "Take this opportunity. It is free of cost. :)

My highest appreciation to Denafrips and Alvin.

Totally agree!  I have seen enough positive responses not to be tempted to give it a try. The bad news for me is that my T-Plus is the last one in line to get updated, the good news is that hopefully by then they would have already learned and come up with a better/improved firmware :)
