I completely agree with you. I also own Quad artera stereo and Quad artera pre. Very happy with their sound. Previously, I had Quad 606, 909. I wanted to replace them with other companies, but I could not part with the proprietary sound from Quad.
Quad artera pre and power combination
I’m currently in the middle of a major revision to my set up and this has included replacing my Sugden a21a series 2 with a Quad Artera pre and power combo. I’m deeply impressed as not only have I not lost much of the Sugden’s strengths in mid range musicality but the bottom end has been utterly transformed. I’m hearing things on familiar recordings that I had never heard before. This is the first time I’ve owned Quad kit and there’s something comforting about owning hifi from such an icon of the industry.
