Please talk me out of buying the Avalon Eclipse

I have found a good deal on these, never heard the Avalon speakers. Is the Eclipse  still a good speaker today? I say talk me out because I have to drive 12 hrs to get them!

celo

Celo the Avalon eclipse are the one I listened at Quintessence audio here in Chicago. I love them , they are using Jeff Roland amp and MIT cables.I don’t have the budget to buy them that time. Why I did not buy them. The lady who plays cello , auditioned them too.

Funny enough, there’s a pair super close to where I live, Ft. Lauderdale. However, the owner won’t sell them for $700! The one I am talking about is in Alabama.

can you listen to the one, where you live?

I don't know for what or for whom I would drive 24 hours cheeky

But there was a time....

I don't think it is fair to ask him to listen to them knowing I won't buy them at his asking price. It would be nice though.

Well, sounds like a road trip to me! Shoot on up to I10, catch Hwy98 (goes along the gulf coast) . Stop in Apalachicola for the night at the Majestic Jewel B&B after a long ride, get a dozen oysters and a grouper sandwich and grab a beer at the brewery. Next morning pick up the speakers, (you know you want to) then enjoy traveling home, stopping to see some sights along the way. If you like barbecue, Hammaknockers in Crawfordville for lunch is a must. Then stop in Sopchoppy for some Tupelo honey. I’d stay on I10 over to St. Augustine, spend the night, then just take 95 home. And don't forget Wakulla Springs State Park, right after Sopchoppy. Crazy clear water.
