@marley119  -  Based on your answers, it's starting to look like the problem maybe with the Rotel CD ???  If you tap the chassis of the CD player, does it skip and/or stop?  Do you have (or borrow) another CD/DVD/BluRay player you can temporarily swap in for the Rotel and test?

i have some rubber hock absorbers under cd player but tapping player does make it skip. if it is rotel cd player ,  you think it can be fixed

the CD player has 3 main parts: the cd holder mechanical component (the plastic case), the reader (the laser eye) and the processor (the flat board with the little thingies) You can easily fix the mechanical part, clean the laser and even replace it, but fixing the board is pretty hopeless. The error you are describing seems more hopeless than not to me - home fixing wise.

cool, thanks for your time, i emailed rotel, see what they have to say, thanks again,  paul

See what Rotel has to say.  In the meantime, if you have a CD lens cleaner (a disk with a little brush or pad on it that you put some alcohol on to clean it), it is worth a try.  You can get them on eBay for under $10.  Also try using the CD player without the shock absorbers under the feet.  Does it still skip when turning the volume up?

What seems to be happening, is that once you reach a certain volume level, the vibration level coming through the player is enough to make it skip.  That raises another question.  Where does the CD player sit?  Is it in a stereo rack?  In a book shelf?  Is the speaker on the same book shelf?  You see where I'm going with this... How are the vibrations from the speakers getting to the CD player.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
