Is AI going to kill Hifi?

I work in the tech as a software dev which helps in affording my crazy Hifi hobby. But with in just a year, I have stopped coding and now AI does most of the coding. There are these systems called agentic AI that automates to a point where you don't really need much human interaction at all.

It's getting pretty crazy. For the most part, anything a human does on the computer AI can do. And let me tell you... it's not a situation where it creates new jobs in place of old ones lost. Google has products for corporations that basically takes care of any need for anything. Ya, you might need a handful of people but not much more to be honest.

I wonder, what is this going to do to the Hifi market? If AI eliminates all these white colored jobs, how will these Hifi shops and brands make it?

AI is impacting all job categories, not just white collar jobs. This is a grave socioeconomic concern.

The human controlling the AI is a potential evil.  There are many documented cases of fraud using deep fakes.

AI decision without human intervention or check is also a concern.  MIT journals have documented evidence of AI attempting to manipulate humans without human intervention. Skynet and the Matrix is possible and probable in our future.

As audiophiles, we should be concerned with AI written and performed music.  The visual, performing, and musical arts have been and should continue to be expressions of the soul and human condition.  Where is the expression of the soul in AI generated arts.  As a community, we should not support AI generated arts.    For full disclosure, I have vested interest.  My son is a working actor, currently in an off broadway play, but also in TV and commercial art.  We are concerned.  Regardless of my vested interest, we all should be.

”…we should be concerned with AI written and performed…”

AI in whatever way it evolves can potentially self learn all the time, it is the nature of the beast but it does not have a soul.

The real danger is, how far will AI go, teaching itself, trying to find a soul?
Unbridled love for itself could make science fiction (The Forbin Project* or Demon Seed) into science fact.

Is this science imitating man? Who knows what any of this could evolve into?

Here's one thing that AI is really good at - interpreting song lyrics.

I read a few explanations for Dead songs and felt "man this guy really nailed it" - looked down to see it was credited to AI!

Try it...!

@srinisr “looked down to see it was credited to AI”

Ahhh…. Are you sure?
Or is AI fooling with you, or some mad scientist?

Just joking….. it must be true-ish.

@mylogic ....Re *, thank you.. ;)  There's the oft chance our species, if we get a grip on ourselves being the crux of the problems facing us globally v. our 'advanced' NIMBY cultures, we might jerk ourselves from either a 'bad enough' to basic 'likely annihilation' scenario.....
...in a country that the average education of the population is the 6th grade...
...with a very questionable 'leader' at the top of our large-scale version of a pyramid scheme....

...let's argue about that...if not here, keep your handles and we'll invade X...

Finally got around to watching Jon Stewart when he aired Colberts' firing+Late Show cancelation....Love the back-up singers' response singing the lyrics, go see if haven't....

Hopeful, but still happy to be one year short of a 3/4's of a century on this quantum simulation of a planet with y'all.....sharing music musings....pestering with mine... *L* 😏

A great snippet in a greater movie about the Scale of it all....
Favorite line from the BBC series "The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy", the galaxy news announcers' comment:

"For all of you on the galactic perimeter, keep banging those rocks together!"

Yup...
