Is bi amping worth it ?

New thinking ?

the subwoofer world is quite confusing . so I have  left that decision alone for a bit.  I have recently read where bi amping the khorns could give me the little more bass punch I am looking for. ?    The 601 mono-blocks certainly have enough power but I have a tube pre amp C-2300 that does not separate bass and treble signals so would need to add an external crossover.

anyone have any experience with this ? Is this worth the effort ?  And if so any recommendations on the external crossover ?

thanks again everyone. I greatly appreciate all input from this forum.

If you are using one 601 monoblock to drive the woofers of both speakers and another 601 monoblock to drive the high frequencies of both speakers, you are defeating stereo operation.  You are sending the same signal to both of your speakers, and are effectively operating in mono, not stereo.  Stereo soundstage operates by sending differing signals to the left and right channels.

I've been multi-amping for 48 years, never going back. Once you have bi or tri-amped, your biggest improvements occur when you limit the frequency bands into each amplifier. And when you get rid of all passive devices between each driver and the amplifier outputs. Try it!

Parasound JC1+ and JC100 monoblocks have two sets of output connections for bi-amping speakers. I don’t own either of these, but have always wondered how they work. Presumably only two amps are required.

I am sure this should be a new thread as unrelated to biamping but today received the extra set of ten gauge banana plug speaker cables I bought for the biamping process.  I already hooked up the 10 gauge and disconnected the 14 gauge cheaper stuff I had hooked up and I may be driving myself crazy but i swear it sounds noticeably better.  One speaker is about a 30’ run from the amps .

also today received an old McIntosh mvp 871 cd / dvd player I bought for playing my old cd / music dvd collection and the sound on this is such an improvement over my brand new streamer even on lossless tidal tracks it’s incredible.  Now I feel my streamer ( which I never loved ) may really be leaving a lot on the table.
Cambridge exn 100. The same song from cd to a tidal loss less track and the old McIntosh cd is so much cleaner it’s amazing .

someone asked if I have heard other khorns and to be clear these speakers sound great to me and I am sure they sound as they should and probably more then enough bass for most people I just prefer more bass then I should , as long as it’s crystal clear and not boomy .

I may give up on bi amping for now . Just so confusing . I think best I can do with equipment I have is send a Full stereo signal to each amp but so no music will be missing but won’t be completely separate channels and that’s not desirable

Seems I would need two more channels of amplification and an external crossover to make the most of that .   Will let it rest for a while right now concerned about my steamer   Doesn’t seem to be up to par

You're mistaken. Those are for bi-wiring not bi-amping.
