Wow - that's a mouthful!
But much is true, the rich are getting richer and the poor and middle class are getting poorer - and many of the rich are taking up lp collecting, especially in Asia. My brother-in-law is a dealer overseas, and I have personally sent him almost 10,000 lp's over the last 18 months that have sold at shockingly high prices compared to what I'd get here. Even here though, look at the number of asinine "Northern Soul" 45's going for hundreds of dollars. It's like the Beanie Baby fad now. In all likelihood, it'll chill down after a while and prices will stabilize, so hang in there.
Hopefully, the other thing that may happen eventually, is a digital medium that equals, or even farther out, exceeds the quality of vinyl playback. It still won't be as much fun to "collect" but it would be nice to have the alternative for those who just want to listen in near-analog peace.
