Tubes Through Solid State

I've always had solid state or tubes; never mixed the two.
If I get a tubed front end and run it through a solid state power amp do I lose the tube timbre and depth? In other words are the tubes wasted or does it survive and get passed along? I am thinking BAT tubes for the front and I hae Pass Labs amps.
Thanks

Here is a recent thread that may have some info.[http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?aamps&1300245785]
Seems a personal choice. I like solid state linestage through a tube power amp. Of course, high quality gear is required.
I am not a big fan of mixing the two. I feel you gain some but lose more. I think you are on to something about losing depth especially. I could always tell there was ss in the system even though it controlled the speakers nicely I missed all tubes.

I do not think it is worth it.

I feel I am in the minority probably but this is my 2 cents...
