It's always nice to see someone who isn't cloistered or inundated with tact or good manners.

I’m sure Cardas & Purist cables would cringe at such a revelation. Probably just throw out everything they’ve done thus far and seek guidance from Mr. Speltz immediately. Likely place full page spreads on the leading newspapers across the country and not only apologize for creating such refuse, and with such a contrite perspective providing the impetus, recall all their efforts forthwith.

Any other items you think we should immediately discard or avoid in the future, given your remarkable insight? I’m wondering with all the press given to all three of the cable makers you mention, there’s not been a head to head comparison published.

Actually and perhaps a better plan might well be to cut the costs of anti cables and simply use Romex… at least it’s more attractive. It’s minimally shielded as well and for less than the cost of contact cleaner/enhancer one could simply replace the wires altogether periodically. Then therre’s that handy ground wire too you could secure to the items so the cabling has little chance of being separated and thus lose signal, in anything short of an earthquake.

Jim I always had good luck with Rat Shack or Home Depot wire. I wouldn't spend my hard earned sheckles on expensive stuff ;) :)

Hi Blindjim, It’s always a pleasure to read about how your system is ever evolving. My suggestion is to move the Signature 10's to the bass unit terminals and Alpha Quad to the upper frequencies and give that a try. Synergistic has always recommended this type of connection and it makes sense since the Signature 10 excels in bass definition. I have had these cables before and concur.

If you are looking to buy new cables, another configuration Synergistic suggests is to use Acoustic Reference cables on the high frequencies with the Signature 10 on the low. I assume you already know how the I/C's perform since you have them. Expect similar complimentary results.

well if you've been watching you know I now have the silverline sonata IIIs, not the JRs. No more BAT gear either. The addition of the Thor pre, and Dodd 120 mono's was a big step up in performance for me. one I'm in no hurry whatsoever to change.... just seeking wires now.

No longer interested in a sub for the 2 ch system either. That's the best part for me... as now it's only a remote desire and not a pressing need with the IIIs..

unless I hit that red neck retirement some Saturday night, and I only spend a buck each week for it, (sometimes) it'll be a while 'fore I'll be sporting Acoustic Ref speaker wires. In that case, I'd simply move the Sigs onto the the Phase Techs in the HT rig.

Add to that a run of 21 FT. as the gear's in the office and not in the listening/living room, and well, that's a pricey proposition.... but who knows?
