CD copies

If I use my laptop DVD drive to copy an SACD, can I copy the SACD layer? How about XRCD? Blu-spec? SHM-II?

I am pretty sure you cannot copy the SACD layer. Not sure about the other formats.
Try it and see. If you use a media player like the free J. River Jukebox 14 it will tell you the sampling rate of each track it plays and will play hi-res formats. For example 24-bit 96kHz = 4608 bps.
I also think you need a transport that can quite specifically read the SACD format. It follows that failing that, no other data manipulation would be possible.
I use http://www.cirlinca.com/ for this exact same thing. It takes some getting used to works just fine for what you are trying to achieve. Hi-Resolution DVD-a sounds wonderful. I copy my music on the slowest DVD media I can find. Try to buy the older 4X or 6x speeds. The slower the better when it comes to ripping copies of CD or DVD.
