I had this experience with a Kimber 4TC/8TC bi-wire configuration (wires of different gauges).
I would NOT run wires of different gauges to your speakers. Running wires of different gauges without question, will result in a different sound because the signal will be arriving to the loudspeakers at different times and in different quantity. (Picture the thin garden hose vs. thick hose scenario re: the different wire gauges). I would recommend at the very least, using wire of the SAME gauge and preferably from the same vendor. This should emeliorate your problem and provide you with a top to bottom tonal balance that is more accurate and musically satisfying.
