They have a wonderfully smooth and full organic sound with excellent details and a large and layered soundstage. You should be able to find a used pair for around 200.00 dollars. There a little more than what you said you wanted to spend, wellworth the few extra dollars in my opinion. Remember, you want the MARTIX reference 2s not the first generation of this cable, which was good but much improved in the second generation.

Where does the Kimber Timbre and Hero interconnects fall in terms of warmness and general performance?

Also intrigued by the Dimarzio M-Path but there doesn't seem to be much literature on these.
