Why aren't new vacuum tubes as good as old ones?

Why aren't new vacuum tubes as good as or better than old ones? Don't we have purer metals? Precision equipment? Why isn't anyone making the highly regarded 7316s?

The tubes they are making in Carson City take advantage of modern techniques- computer modeling and lazer cutting so they have avoided expensive dies. I'm very interested to see their production tubes!
LOL! Sorry....every time I read Carson City I can't help thinking of the movie Con Air and Cyrus the Virus. LOL!

USA! USA! USA! USA!
I have high hopes for this venture. It sounds like they will be able to make tubes that are even better than the NOS classics.
Me too Atmasphere. While I find the sound of the newer tubes in some cases to EXCEED any of the NOS tubes I've tried they just don't hold up for whatever the reason(s). I would LOVE to purchase tubes that are made in the US and would hope they exceed the performance of the NOS but retain the quality and longetivity that the Chinese tubes in particular are seemingly lacking.
When you guys talk about "better" that include sound quality?.
Yes and durability. One of the reason I read is some raw materials are banned due to environmental reasons so they can't produce the same quality tube.

Atmasphere, what's the name of the tube manufacturer in NV?
