Hey Wildoats,
I think I was at that show. I was sitting at the corner table stage left (right if you're looking at the stage) and I was there with my friend and his girlfriend, who is unbelievably hot. Melvin solo'd in front of her twice, and was totally hitting on her between sets. My friend kept telling Melvin "I'm RIGHT HERE, didn't you notice? That's MY girlfriend you've been hitting on all night long!" He kept right on hitting. It was hilarious. He's an amazing guitar player. I wish some of his stuff was on SACD.
I second the suggestion to get "Folk Singer" by Muddy Waters. It's a must-have. Also, I'd recommend "David Johansen and the Harry Smiths" on Chesky. He plays a lot of Blues and old-time American standards. It's a FANTANSTIC SACD. Chesk it out.
Cheers.
