I know before this thread is over, Stevie Ray's "Texas Weather," Louis Armstrong's, "St. James." Pink Floyd's, "Dark Side" and one or more popular Miles Davis cuts will make this list.
Because of that, my list will be a bit off center, tracks chosen for their unique musical content, long term appeal, that particular tracks ability to convey emotion, and recording quality.
I listed recording quality last, not because it's not important, but because "audiophile" records have zero appeal other than testing. With all that said, here is my list for now, no doubt I will add to it later:
Charlie Haden, "Closeness Duets," is the album, "Ellen David" is the cut and it was released on A&M Horizon in 1976.
Duke Ellington, "Jazz Party," is the album, "Malletoba Spank," is the cut and it was on released on Columbia (CS 2187) in 1959
Kate Bush, "Aerial" is the album, "An Architects Dream," is the cut and it was released on EMI in 2007
Bill Evans, "Waltz for Debby," is the album, "My Foolish Heart." is the cut and it was released on Riverside (RLP-9399) in 1961
Cassandra Wilson, "New Moon Daughter," is the album, "Strange Fruit," is the cut and it was released on Blue Note records in 1995
Dead Can Dance, "Serpents Egg," is the album, "Song of Sophia," is the cut and it was released on 4AD records in 1988
Eels, "Beautiful Freak," is the album, "Susan's House," is the cut and it was released on Dreamworks records in 1996.
Radiohead, "Kid A," is the album, "Everything in it's Right Place," is the cut and it was released on EMI in 2000
