Favorite Female vocals that give you goose bumps

Her cover of Van Morrison's "The Way Young Lovers Do" is a goose-bumper. Also, three in a row on Lucinda Williams' Essence, "Steal Your Love," "Envy the Wind," and "Blue." and Nina Simone's "Sinnerman" up there, too ..

So many good suggestions. For classical the new singers are wonderful, but still nowhere near Callas, Joan Sutherland and most wonderful of all Vittoria De Los Angeles. Her duets with Jossi Bjorling, just heaven

Hmmm.... Bond. Yes, I just added their albums to my Rhapsody subscription. Now I have them all and am listening as I type this. Might sound hokey, but this would be excellent music for when I do intervals on the treadmill.

Absolutely right regarding "Diamonds and Rust"; I've heard very few pieces as stunning for demo/assessing set up of system and, of course, for pure enjoyment of female voice.

Although not a fan of her genre of music, the "goosebumps" label was applied to my backside by Laura Branigan. An '80's backup singer of Leonard Cohen with a 4 octave range, she was more popular overseas than in the US. But her voice could cause a mummy to stir and she still finds my rotation every month or so. Check out the Youtube video of her "Self Control" video, banned by MTV for awhile for being too sensual. (Too Sensual!!, have you seen what's on MTV!)
