An interesting experience with power cable. I’ve two Lincoln welders, 240 V 50 amp. each. Both use eight gauge cable. So people are to believe a small amplifier needs 8 gauge ? I use two amps weighing 136 lbs each putting out 500+ watts per Ch. at .003 Thd., their hard wired with 12 gauge a...

How do you stop house guest from damaging your speakers? IMO whether you’re an audiophile or a plumber doesn’t matter, people shouldn’t drop in and jam their hands on anything without asking ! Find new friends or train the old ones at the door ! Cheers
Whittling down my choices to a final few pair... Agree with most, you should find a way to hear any and all first. And hopefully then check out the used market. Depreciation in 4-5 years is insane, worse than buying a new car ! Cheers
How long do speakers last? I think in depends on the condition, restoring, parts availability, and bang for your buck. My last project refurbished late model IRS Betas, was time consuming and certainly not cheap. The all in cost has me smiling as that I’m sure is a fraction...
Power cord length @clearthinker You do believe tonal quality can be addressed simply by manipulating the AC wires coming from the final wall socket going into your equipment ? And of course same with the noise dragged from never never land. Lol
Interconnect advice needed Sounds like you’ve got all the answers and are just opening a debate again on the pros and cons of cables. Respectfully, a waste of time. Cheers
What I wish I knew before starting my audiophile journey @tannoy56 l do realize the value if quality, vintage or otherwise. As I’ve said many times clean power, a well appointed room and selectively purchased high end will put a smile on most. Enjoy what you’ve got. Cheers
What I wish I knew before starting my audiophile journey I Feel sorry for the effort some have to put into any hobby only to end up questioning their sanity. Is it that they’ve had to buy a whole pile of junk only to realize it takes more than that, life is too short to spend a chunk of it on the likes ...
Why is it that every time, lately, that I'm interested in a thread... There was an opening on the Tekton assembly line bubble gum, rivet, and glueing section. Cheers
Dedicated Line - Things to consider What I’ve done making 2 outlets suppling 4 high output sockets on 4 breakers. Needed 10/3 wire, 2 hospital grade outlets, 4x 20 amp breakers. Cut/break the gold bar joining the 2 gold screws on both outlets only. From one of the 10/3 wires put re...
Streamers and their Fuses Of course Science is always evolving but things have to change discovery, Positive proof etc. A moot point with regards to fuses, like the man said a fuse is a fuse let’s see how science has involved with that. There is no argument, and it’s not r...
Streamers and their Fuses Silence is golden.. great song and point taken. Someone is having trouble tweaking his Walkman, achieving success possibly then we all shall listen to the music. Have a great holiday folks Cheers
Streamers and their Fuses @jerryg123 I've a large powerful system that to most does not get any better. Well engineered, electrified, modified, pretty to boot, and at 1800lbs we're done. There is no '0' hum or noise at any point, I do not recommend looking for non existi... |
