Upgrading my PV-15 I would buy a used CJ Premier LS17 (series II if you can afford it) or, buy a PV 14L and have Bob Backert modify it.Here is his website:http://www.rhbsounddezign.com/Do a search for Bob Backert here and on AA to see user comments.Good luck.
affordable long run IC Thanks Cincy bob!In what type of application is shielding necessary? I have read that shielding does degrade performance, but I'm afraid I may need it.BTW -- NICE system!
affordable long run IC Cincy bob,Are the MA3s shielded? Soon I will need a 3m single-ended run of ICs and I'm looking at the MA3s as a possibility. Thanks.
Top two channel pre w/HT passthrough XLR best Aesthetix Janus (w/ phono) or Calypso (w/o phono) meet your requirements and very nicely I might add. HT bypass is switchable from the remote and it is programmable. In bypass mode, the preamp can actually be completely turned off. Some on this an...
Who do you like for equipment mods? Bob Backert. I had Bob modify a CJ preamp some years ago and the results were staggering. I've since sold the preamp and had to spend almost 3x the $ to better the sound, albeit marginally. Excellent work -- fair pricing.
Best tube amp for stock AKG 701 head phones I don't know what your budget is and I'm not familiar with the amps you've listed, but I would look at one of these:http://www.meier-audio.homepage.t-online.de/index.htmThe Eartube to be exact. I have an HA2-SE and I'm very happy with it. Dr. Meie...
Audiogon speaker wire gurus, please help me Tcheathertree,If you are still not "there" yet, perhaps try changing the tubes in your preamp. I think you would be able to fine tune the sound easier this way. There are probably many warm-sounding 6DJ8s available.
AV123 Mini; Salk HT3; Devore Gibbon Super 8 As an HT3 owner, I reiterate what Audiotomb said and I'll add the gorgeous wood cabinetry and superb craftmanship to go along with it.
Compliance & Efffective Mass Question Try this:http://www.cartridgedb.com/I've found this to be "plug and play" so to speak.I've used, but I cannot, however, verify its accuracy.
Salk HT3 vs Sonus Faber Domus Grand Piano I auditioned a pair of SF Cremonas months ago and while I liked the overall sound, they did not excite me. In fact, they sounded a bit tame (e.g. muddied in the midrange and rolled off in the high freqs). I believe I read somewhere that these are ...
Who mods the EAR 834P Rdenoble,It is not harsh at all. You should have been here to receive the TT I bought from Brian! No wonder the FedEx guy ran away after leaving it on my doorstep!Brian did NOTHING to rectify the situation. It took me months to get the parts I need...

About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone While it saddens me to know that Pat has passed, I know that he is with the Lord and his physical suffering has ended.May God continue to bless you Barb and may you continue to feel Pat's love from above.
Recommedation to drive Electrostatics? ML, Inner? As a former Innersound Eros owner, I would have to say that the Innersound ESL300 amp will be one of the best "bang for your buck" amps you could find. As Bignerd recommended, I would also use a tube preamp. I would stay away from tube power amps....
About Lugnut -- Patrick Malone I've been following this thread since its inception though have I've not posted since I really can't think of anything to say that has not already been said. I will say this though; this is one of the most touching threads I've ever read anywhere ... |
