Do Interconnects need to "warm up"?
really, they need to "relax" after being moved around and touched.
Best CD player under $25000.
I wonder what has caused this insanity?
It was 44 years ago that...
Muddy Waters - Electric Mud.Thomas Edison - Mary had a little lamb. heheehe
Bob Dylan's Hifi?
I agree with Lewhite. Every time you see a pro musician on TV they are sitting in front of a 64 chan mixing board with a whole wall of pro gear. Probably custom stuff that noone can even buy.FM Acoustics web site gives a list of famous people whom...
What will be the data storage method of the future
What is the diff. between "the cloud" and a return to the main frame model? I know the cloud is internet based. I can see pro and cons both ways with the loss of personal freedom. I hope, and think, flash drive will become the norm at some point.
What song/composition sounds like another artist?
After learning guitar -a little- i became aware of how really really close allot of guitar parts are- even in rock songs that don't really sound the same - sometimes it's only a matter of slight timing changes. In fact, it can be real easy to slip...
SummerTime and Amp Heat
Well the topic IS about heat AND not leaving things on 24/7 - BUT i did have CD player serviced not too long ago for a new laser, and the repair guy commented that the power supply was showing signs of getting old and some of the caps were startin...
Does long hair destroy the soundstage?
New product idea - tuned hair extensions for audiophiles. :)
Pink Floyd
"They were not a stoner band but that was the era. "That's right. PF didn't really want 20,000 fans that were drunk and high and yelling "crank-it -up"!!. Save that for Lynard Skynard.(awesome band too, not trying to "dis" them in anyway, but you ...
damping factor
Amps with low damping factors (high output imp) will have a Hz response curve that may not be flat and IS effected and influenced by the speaker load. -i.e. - you don't know the amps Hz response curve until you hook it up and measure it with the l...
Audio Research Ref210 vs Ref300 vs VTM200
Granted the VT100 IS one of my personal favorite amps - but pair with a $12000 preamp to sound its best? Maybe the VT is better with a hybrid pre that leans towards solid state sound, rather than a pure tube beast like the LS5 - maybe that is why ...
how are stereo signals recorded on records and CDs
Really, you need to look it up. Stereo records are quite complex. You really only have one needle and one groove, so stereo records are never really true two chan reproduction. The stereo image is really faked somewhat and illusionary. IIRC, only ...
Audio Note M6 vs ARC Ref 3 Preamps...
I agree with Brawny's assesment of AN. The only dealer near me is the last store left in a run-down strip mall with foot deep holes in the dirt/sand/ old paved parking lot, and the store's owner can't figure out why people arn't just driving up an...
What the heck is bias anyway?
Yes, I think if the signal current(music) exceeds the bias current, then there is no sound or just tons of distortion. Is that how they make the Ibenz tube screamer?Solid state needs bias too, we just dont roll transistors too much. :)
