One big reason why brick and mortar high end audio dealers struggle. Everything has changed. I loved going into a store to hear good hi-fi. Not easy to do anymore. I like the suggestion we share our knowledge. I know exactly how my last four amps and speakers sounded together and the DAC I liked best, etc.. Maybe t...
The smoothest amp you've heard? Luxman 1120A Receiver . Very smooth famous Luxman sound. Was updated with better caps and other inside. Nice power amp section. Made very well back in the day.
How long do good speakers last? My audio life got real when I heard a pair of Montana speakers being driven correctly by a huge Threshold amp. It was in the 90s. Incredible sound. Someone on the forum tonight said they have Montana's. What a speaker!
How long do good speakers last? I bought my ADS L1590 tower speakers in 1996. This year had a complete rebuild done including crossovers. They sounded perfect before I started the refurbish. I was being cautious for upcoming years. I liked the softer sound before the rebuild. No...
You own a store, you sell 2 brands, which? I second Macintosh and ADS. Could be great!

My Experience With Tekton Glad you like your new speakers and the great sound they produce. I want to try a pair someday myself. I do not go by price but how the speaker will sound with the amp I am using at the time. If I ever get it right then it will most likely sound l...

cassettes CAN sound better than vinyl. Great thread! I love using my 682ZX and CR4 machines. The dolby C with then newer chip in the CR4 is incredible. Very quiet. This is as far as tape technology got for me. I love the sound of tape and I can hear it on a good system. I like it becau...
Advent 300 peter s The tech made it great again, I am very satisfied with the sound. I am okay with the adcom amp but am wondering why I sold my hafler DH 220 a couple years ago, would sound good like you said I bet.
Helping a kid out You are wonderful to give your time and effort to the kid. Building something is way better in long run than buying. The sacrifice, time, effort etc. we all been there and remember. He will learn so much. You all said it so well. I did not even kn...
Low budget vintage preamp or new jasonbourne, which one of those preamps is your favorite or go to one? I am curious. I like buying something that is classic or proven back in the day and picking up on ebay when seller moves on to new stuff. Counterpoint is pretty interesting. I ...
Cable co. is forcing me to rent or buy what they call a Jweilers, I like your amount of equipment. Very cool. I remember torrents. Oh boy. I use a simple digital antenna on the roof mounted to my old direct tv spot. It is totally free and the 1080 pixel quality is superb! Digital feed right through the...
Advent 300 I have not heard the NAD sound I used to like. I miss the hafler sound. It was super warm and nice. The hafler 110 was a very nice preamp also but this advent might be better. |
