Develop a hierarchy for phono playback
Since a cartridge can't tell the difference between the vibrations it creates following the record grooves from the ones that are transferred through the TT and arm, I would put TT and arm at 1 & 2 followed by the cartridge, with phono stage a...
Listening Room or Components or my ears?
In my experience I have never been in an untreated room that did not emphasize the upper mid’s and hi’s. You also have a room gain imbalance with the right speaker being 15’ from the side wall, which will help de-emphasize the lower frequencies on...
New cartridge vs. Re-tipped
@rsf507 @chayro @palasr @dwette @jcarr @mulveling  Thanks everyone for your responses. They have been very helpful.
New cartridge vs. Re-tipped
@dwette @stringreen @nwres  Gentlemen, I appreciate your responses. They have helped a lot. In this particular case I am looking at a Lyra cartridge that was re-tipped by Soundsmith. I have not talked with the seller yet, but I am assuming that ...
Vinyl playback - lack of bass?
Digital is supposed to be able to handle more bass than vinyl, but I’m pretty sure in reality that capability is not utilized very often. I have a few records where I have both analog and digital copies and I really don’t hear any difference in ba...
Sub woofer naive question day
It looks like the sub10 is designed to work best with Burchardts's active speakers. As Deep_333 states, you would connect your amps pre out to the sub10's input and then connect the sub10's output to one of Buchardt's active speakers input.

That is what I was thought you meant. Thanks for clarifying.
REL vs Arendal subwoofer
It could be. If you happened to run into a phase issue or a node issue, your only option with the REL is to physically change its location, Which could improve one problem but create or make the other worse. At least on the surface, it appears t...

I would put the room first, quality of the recording and then speakers third, though I am not 100% sure what you mean by the set-up.
I'm curious. What is your "normal" listening volume?
The last time I measured I was hitting peaks at 119 dbc at slightly under 9' away. Most of my records are not excessively compressed so I will guess that the average continuous level is closer to 110 to 112 dbc.
Channel D Seta L vs. BMC MCCI Signature ULN transimpedance phono preamps
@hiendmmoe  I appreciate the heads-up.
Channel D Seta L vs. BMC MCCI Signature ULN transimpedance phono preamps
@hiendmmoe  I appreciate the offer, but I believe I have one on the way. If you don't mind me asking, why are you thinking of selling yours? Thanks
Svs sb17-ultra for music
Personally I would avoid any subwoofer that uses a passive radiator. Based on that reason alone I would choose the SVS. I agree with Big Greg that a subwoofer is going to excite the nodes/standing waves of your room, so you might want to have a pl...
Subs?
Welcome to the dark side. The answer to your question is, it depends on what your goals are, what you listen to and how loud you listen. If you prefer aggressive bass driven music, like blues, rock, EDM, and even modern country, specially at highe...
My Sonus Faber Amatis have weak bass even though I'm running ML 536s--800 w/ch into 4 ohms
The first thing I would check is to make sure they are not wired out of phase and it could be possible they are wired out of phase internally.
