Looking for a reasonably priced good quality interconnect
The Morrow cables all use solid-core conductors (which is very good), but they are all silver-plated.  If the sound turns out to be too bright with too much upper mids/highs push (after 200 hours burn-in of course), then I would go with some of th...
Suggest a new amp/preamp/Dac streaming combo
I would start by looking at the available network players, such as this list:https://www.musicdirect.com/Equipment/Network-Player/?category=Network%2520Player&sort=popularity%7CDESC&page=1&pagesize=24&c1=tab-products&c2=grid Th...
Open Floor Plan Listening Room
@sandpat - what kind of preamp do you have?  Probably the easiest and best way to add a sub is to use the RCA output of your preamp and keep the XLR for the Krell/Apogee.  This is 99% most likely the same as putting in a Y-splitter cable (unless y...

The Yamaha CD-S2100 is going to be really hard to beat.  You'll probably have to spend $5,000-6,000 on a DAC at this point.  Or maybe something like LKS MH-DA004?  Bricasti M1?  PS Audio DirectStream?
Room Acoustics
Actually, foam does not make for good acoustic panels.  It has some absorption in the upper frequencies, but anything down in the midbass is not treated well.  Better to order some Owens 703 panels from ATS Acoustics if you want to DIY.  The 2 foo...
Do I need a preamp/processor?
yes, they all have wi-fi.
Do I need a preamp/processor?
If audio quality is your primary concern, I would go with the 105 or 105D.  The 105D includes the Darbee video processing, which does help sharpen the image somewhat, as long as you do not overdo the Darbee setting.  I have my set at about 35%.  I...
PADIS vs Furutech fuses
As the poster of the measurement (which has been posted many times before), I did say that the "measurements could explain why", but I also said that the measurements was not the entire story.  Counter-argument.  So, the fuse non-believers, can yo...
Best monoblock amps for $2000 used
I hate to say it, but if you really want monoblocks for that price, the best you will probably do on recent stuff is Emotiva XPA-1 or 1L.  Or look for some really old equipment.  There's a set of Class M700 (90s) on ebay.like jmcgrogan2 - you're p...
Amp recommendation and setup advice please
I came across this thread talking about the NFB 29 (which is what you are considering):https://www.head-fi.org/threads/audio-gd-nfb-29-single-ended-master-race-lol.732157/ Interestingly enough, he is using it through some AirMotiv speakers! lol.  ...

I was going to point out that Teac DAC, but somebody already did.  I will definitely agree that Teac DAC has got to go.  The Yamaha SACD player will do the same thing as the Teac DAC for your hi-res music.  Just use the digital inputs on the back ...
PADIS vs Furutech fuses
That's fine and I respect your belief that fuses do not make a difference.  However, we have nothing to prove to anyone because we know for a fact that fuses do make a difference.  If you do not want to expend the money to test fuses on your own, ...
Amp recommendation and setup advice please
oh, to follow up on a couple questions:Here is a good review and discussion of the Audio-GD NFB-28 (which is exactly the same as the NFB-29 except it has XLR inputs/outputs, which you do not need for TV):http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index....
PADIS vs Furutech fuses
so, kosst_amojan, have you actually tried out a Furutech or BLACK fuse in your F5 amp?Question - if a fuse has no impact on a piece of equipment that should be designed well, how come I can hear significant differences between fuses in my $12,000 ...
Musings on Switching Power Supplies (LPS for Oppo / DirecTV/ Radiance)
@nonoise - good call.  I have been using the following cryo-treated Neotech HDMI:http://audiosensibility.com/blog/products-2/digital-cables-occ-copper-and-occ-silver/#!/Neotech-NEHH-4200-HDMI-1-4-Cable/p/17895256/category=4059160 So far, it has do...
