Amp upgrade for Aerial Acoustics 10T's? (
If it's warmth that you like, the Bryston amps are probably not a good choice.  They typically have a very vast attack and can be on the cold/sterile side.  Not bad, but not as engaging as other amps.  It could be a good match to a very slow speak...
Amp upgrade for Aerial Acoustics 10T's? (
The Aragon 8008 will drive them just fine.  It has a lot of current available, and Class A to 26 watts.  That being said, the sonic signature is definitely very warm for a solid state amp.  All the detail is there, but it's definitely warm.  Warm ...
Which of the new 4K Recievers do you prefer?
I don’t think you are going to find a receiver that will do an actual 150 RMS / channel. You -MIGHT- be able to get one that will do 140 RMS / channel, but only if the two LEFT/RIGHT channels are used (the Integra DRX-R1 indicates 140/channel, but...
Center Channel
You're going to laugh, but I'd look at Marantz AV8802a for an AV processor, if you're interested in one.  I don't know the sound of Jeff Rowland, so I'm not sure what to recommend for a center channel amp.  Maybe a single Parasound JC1 monoblock? ...
Center Channel
That's very cool.  In my opinion, the front 3 channels should be as close to the same sonic signature as possible.  Surrounds are less critical. What are you using to drive your PL500s?

Thanks for the update!  I'm interested to see how the PLC350 will work out.
Mismatched pre/power amps
You would probably have to have it looked at by an electronic repair person.  Replacing electrolytic caps is not usually expensive (maybe up to a couple hundred) unless the device uses specialty caps that cost a lot.  You just need to listen to th...
Parasound A21 In Mono vs. Parasound JC1's
@erik_squires - thanks for the correction, Erik.  You're right.
Mcintosh processor
The two options you have here are both very old, so reliability is going to be a gamble for either. They both were originally good build quality units. You might get a good unit and be fine for 5 years, but all electronics are going to be prone to...
Mismatched pre/power amps
On a preamp that is this old, the hum could be coming from capacitors that are degraded and dried out.  This is a common root cause of hum on equipment.  The degraded capacitors will not filter voltage properly coming in from the A/C mains and you...
Parasound A21 In Mono vs. Parasound JC1's
That being said, the A21 has a 1.2 kVA transformer with 100,000uf capacitance in the power supply.  The JC1 has a 1.9 kVA transformer with 132,000uf capacitance in the power supply.  This give the JC1 significantly more brute force in the power su...
Parasound A21 In Mono vs. Parasound JC1's
A stereo amplifier that is run in "mono" mode will essentially double the pull on the power supply. You are, essentially, running this stereo amplifier in bridged mode. This means that each channel of the amplifier is only seeing half of the speak...
Krell HTS 7.1 vs Denon AVR-X4300H
The MX119 and MX132 are likely going to have similar characteristics to your 2-channel McIntosh system. Mac is typically warm, smooth and laid back sound. Krell is more forward with attack and clarity. Personally, I would go the Krell route if you...
Krell HTS 7.1 vs Denon AVR-X4300H
Can this be done: connect OPPO to KRC3 and HTS7.1 and then to krell KAV500?I would not do this at all.  You are running the audio signal through two preamps, first a very low resolution KRC3 and then a nice but soft HTS 7.1.  Trying to merge both ...
Krell HTS 7.1 vs Denon AVR-X4300H
@sfall - yeah, totally understand.  My answer was under the assumption that he wanted to use both a 2-channel preamp with a HT Processor/Receiver.
